Every day at least one song - Week # 72 (July 27, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Monday, July 27, 2026:

Bloody Monday with Bloody Riot it is. The Italian hardcore punk outfit Bloody Riot from Rome came to life in 1981 and disbanded in 1987. In 2001 the band reunited and it seems is still going strong to this day as a new album was just released earlier this month. In 1985 they released a full length on Meccano Records, which was also responsible for releases of some other classic Italian hardcore punk outfits. What I really like about this song is the fact that the band made a fast and furious song into a song over three minutes long. There is even a Wiki entry in Italian about the band. Happy Monday!

Tuesday, July 28, 2026:

Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” started to play in my head around lunch time today; I have really no idea why, but since it’s a great song it can happen. Joan was born in PA but later relocated with her parents to Los Angeles, where at the tender age of sixteen she was one of the founding members of the Runaways. The rest is history they say, and if you want to learn more about her life, there is plenty of information on the intranet. I enjoy the 1982 live footage of her classic, and so should you. Hopefully everyone had a good Tuesday.

Wednesday, July 29, 2026:

Eskorbuto from Bilbao in the Basque country are without doubt one of the most influential punk rock bands hailing from Spain. They lived what they preached, and were radical in their approach to music, lifestyle and their lyrics. I give them full credit for that, as most people just mellow out fairly quickly. It should come as no surprise that not all members of the band survived such commitments. I’ve loved Spanish punk for quite some time, but I have to be honest with you that I need to invest more time in Eskorbuto. Happy Wednesday!

Thursday, July 30, 2026:

I don’t think I’ve blasted a Metal song on here in quite some time, so welcome to Metal Thursday! The month of July is almost over and one can only hope that the fires that are currently destroying large swaths of France and Spain are going to be under control soon. I wish I could tell you something about Prey from New Jersey, but the demo song from ‘83 is all I know about these cats. I do dig the sound though, it’s raw and definitely influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. And with that, enjoy and have a great day!

Friday, July 31, 2026:

I had a good time last night at Nietzsches in Buffalo. It was also my first time at said venue, and I must say it’s a great place with a nice vibe, good sound and a really old school feel. Bloodshot Bill from Montreal put on a fantastic show and entertained the dancing crowd to the max. All in all it was a really nice Thursday evening where the weather wasn’t too hot either and rounded off a perfect night out. It’s going to be a busy day at work though, so there’s that…Happy Friday!

Saturday, August 1, 2026:

Welcome to the month of August, time flies! 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of punk rock, and just like in 1976 there is still no future, at least for millions of people around this globe. The rise of techno-fascism in particular is scary as it has enabled people with power and lots of money to run amok and to manipulate the minds of millions to believe in far-right theories; just look at who’s running the United States and who wants to run the United Kingdom. It is therefore also refreshing to see that some new hardcore punk outfits are taking a clear stance against this bullshit, and even though they reach just a tiny segment of our society, every little helps. Grail Guard hail from Coventry in the Midlands and play uncompromising and pissed off hardcore punk I will never tire off. Happy Saturday!

Sunday, August 2, 2026:

Another Sunday, another week, and unfortunately another death from the world of punk’n’roll. DMZ from Boston were without a doubt an important band when it comes to the punk rock explosion in the late ‘70s. They took a lot of influence from ‘60s bands and combined it with the emerging energy of punk rock and in their hometown of Boston, and along with the Real Kids they showed the kids how to rock. The band’s singer, Jeff Conolly, was as is often the case not the easiest guy to deal with, but he was able to elevate the band to the next level. Jeff passed yesterday, may he Rest in Peace.
