Every day at least one song - Week # 71 (July 20, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Monday, July 20, 2026:

What a difference it makes when the nights cool off properly, especially downstairs when one can leave the windows open instead of keep running the AC unit. Yesterday Spain won the World Cup for a second time, congrats. No game was watched in this household, not even the final, but I suppose the right thing to do to kick off this week is to post some good ole’ punk rock from Spain, where my dad resides and will have to endure some loud days and nights to come I suppose. Commando 9mm were one of the countless great bands from the ‘80s and hailed from the capitol of Madrid. Happy Monday!

Tuesday, July 21, 2026:

I had no time this morning to put up a song, but what do we have evenings for then? Over this past weekend I watched the excellent “Born Innocent - The Redd Kross Story” documentary on Netflix. Redd Kross are a band I never paid much attention to having only one album of theirs in my collection. Again, the movie is well worth watching, especially for all the stories as to how the band got together when the youngest member was eleven years old, just crazy. I think it’s fitting that I picked “I hate my school” for today’s song as the McDonald brothers must have had a hard time to make the trip to school every day. At the time the band was called Red Cross as that was before they were threatened with a lawsuit by the International Red Cross if not changing their name. Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!

Wednesday, July 22, 2026:

Great day today with a nice and cool breeze, if it was up to me the entire summer could be like this, San Diego weather I suppose. I know I sound like a broken record at times but it’s a good time to be into punk rock for us old or new fans alike as there is an abundance of good bands around no matter where you look on this crazy planet. Pjolterguys hail from the beautiful city of Oslo in Norway and play that typical brand of Norwegian punk rock, or as in their own words catchy, angry and snappy. I like what I hear and Norwegian punk rock has a special place in my heart ever since I discovered Kafka Process back in the ‘80s. Cheers!

Thursday, July 23, 2026:

I think if you asked one hundred people what freedom means, you’d get one hundred different answers and views. Freedom in this day and age is disappearing by the day, let’s not kid ourselves. More and more of wealth is concentrated in the hands of very few people, and those people are not just greedy, but also power hungry and willing to do anything for control of our minds. Back in the early ‘90s I honestly didn’t pay much attention to Lookout Records. I had the first Lookouts LP, which I thought was okay, but it hasn’t been in my collection for decades by now. Shame on me because the Filth/Blatz Split LP comes up quite often when people discuss notable punk rock releases from the ‘90s. One can never know everything and one can never own all punk rock records, but one can always learn something new. Keep fighting for freedom, it’s worth it.

Friday, July 24, 2026:

It’s sad that more and more people are dying at a relatively young age, people that matter greatly to others in their local underground scenes. The Class Assassins from Toronto have lost two of their beloved brothers in the past year or so with their singer Chad having passed away earlier this week and guitarist Chris some time ago, Rest in Peace to both. The band’s “State of Emergency” album, which was released on TKO in 2002, is one of the best Canadian punk albums in my humble opinion, it’s a modern day classic for sure. Found some nice live footage from not that long ago, enjoy. Have a great Friday!

Saturday, July 25, 2026:

My wife and I and her friends had a great time last night on the Spirit of Buffalo boat that takes you out on Lake Erie. The weather was ideal and it was a nice and relaxing Friday evening winding down from the work week. Unfortunately it was also only yesterday I had mentioned how the punk rock world is losing more and more of its own at a young age. Lou Koller of Sick Of It All passed away yesterday, Rest In Peace. While I never owned any of the band’s records, I did catch them live on two occasions and I must say they were a tight unit and fun to watch. The only record of theirs that kind of sticks in my mind is their first LP, so here is one for you and in memory of Lou. Stay active, and stay healthy!

Sunday, July 26, 2026:

Another week’s just flown by. Things have been a bit crazy at work, but I won’t bother you with that here. The world on a whole has been on fire for some time now, and I mean that in a literal sense. In these times I always find refuge in music, books and movies, and pay as little attention as humanly possible to news. The Jive Bombers hailed from New York City and in 1957 they achieved some success with “Bad Boy” landing the Savoy single at No. 7 in the R&B charts. It’s an ideal piece of music from very different times, times when the world was more or less at peace, even if not for too long. Happy Sunday!
