Every day at least one song - Week # 70 (July 13, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Monday, July 13, 2026:

It’s Monday and back to work, hence I will keep this short. It’s also the 70th week I am doing this, so at least there is that. Mulheim Asozial were around from 2009 until somewhat recently in 2023 according to the short wiki entry in German. It’s a shame I missed all their records as they are hard to get these days. When it comes to modern day Deutschpunk they are up there with the very best musically, as well as lyrically. I never tire of sarcasm and the song I am posting today is about family and career planning. Have a successful day!

Tuesday, July 14, 2026:

Welcome to another crappy Tuesday, which at least here is going to be very hot. I’ve never followed L7 much, let alone ever had records, but I suppose I really should have. Also, I am not sure whether it was them or the Lunachicks whom I saw in the mid-90s at an outdoor festival in Toronto, I tend to always mix up the two bands. Regardless, yesterday the news reached that L7 bassist Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. For musicians it’s extremely tough to survive without touring, especially here in the US where the government does really help fuck all. Keep Jennifer in your thoughts and if you would like to help out financially, you can do so here. Happy Tuesday! Update 7-19-26: Rest in Peace, Jennifer.

Wednesday, July 15, 2026:

I must say, but this year’s summer hasn’t been too bad so far here in Buffalo. And with not too bad I mean not too hot as I despise hot weather. Since yesterday though it’s not only been hot as hell but also humid as fuck. I have previously posted the original Eddie Cochran version of “Summertime Blues”, but T-Rex’s 1972 live from Wembley take on the song ain’t too shabby either. Stay cool, and have a great day!

Thursday, July 16, 2026:

This morning I had a word with Olga the dog as she miserably failed to wake me up before 6am. I get up very early, way before 6, but must have forgotten to set the alarm and woke up at 6:30 having to make up a lot of lost time. On top of that we are enjoying a gift from Canada in the form of wildfire air making it over the border. The air quality has been poor since yesterday and one can only hope the wind starts to blow in a different direction. Psh Psh were from Caracas in Venezuela and must have been part of I assume a very small circle of people that built a subculture in their city. I really don’t know anything about them except that a cassette tape of their 1983 released demo was released in 2024. Hopefully said tape will be put to vinyl/CD as they definitely have an interesting sound. Have a great night!

Friday, July 17, 2026:

The talk here in the State of New York, and also other places in the North East and Midwest of the US are the wildfires in Canada bringing in a lot of bad and unhelthy air. What really isn’t talked much about in the media are the facts where the wildfires come from, and why. I learned yesterday that many indigenous people in Northern Ontario are being forced to flee their homes due to no help from the government. It surely isn’t shocking in the great tradition of the white man not caring for people of other races and origins, even in Canada, which praises itself for being inclusive and different from us here in the US. I have posted a Willie Dunn song a long time ago, hence I thought today is a good time to post another one. Happy Friday?

Saturday, July 18, 2026:

The weather is cooling off significantly and the air quality has improved here in Buffalo, and so has my mood. I am not a summer person, never been, and never will be. I enjoy taking a swim in the local pool like last night, but I hate heat, and above all humidity. Anyhow, enough of that useless garbage, and on to music. Toxoplasma from the small city of Neuwied in the North-West of Germany are one of the most important Deutschpunk bands ever, there is no doubt about that. Their 1983 released LP is a milestone in said genre, and stands the test of time. I saw the band back in ‘94 in Basel, Switzerland, and while they looked like a washed up Hard Rock band stuck in the ‘80s they rocked the venue into the ground. The video footage I found last night is just from last year and the band is still tight as hell and as good as ever. I really don’t know who’s still an original member, but Wally on vocals certainly is. Great stuff. Happy Saturday!

I am part of a really decent FB Group called ‘Respect the Action Rock’, feel free to join if you like bands that know or knew how to rock. Someone posted a blast from yesterday, The Sinisters from Toronto. During my time in that great Canadian city in the middle of the ‘90s I did see them on at least a couple occasions, and they never disappointed. Pure wild rock’n’roll energy at 150% the way we love it. Nothing more to say on this nice and breezy Sunday morning. Have a great one!
