Every day at least one song - Week # 68 (June 29, 2026)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!
Monday, June 29, 2026:
Aargh, it’s Monday again after a busy and in that sense short weekend. But, at least it’s a short work week ahead so all good. Yesterday I was scrolling around a bit on U-Tube and found some good stuff as one can easily get sucked into the endless content available. Anyhow, I am always happy to find yet another new(ish) Aussie band that rocks, as let’s face it there are a few out there. I’ve never heard of the Judges, but maybe some of you out there are familiar with them. Happy Monday!
Tuesday, June 30, 2025:
Many decades ago a cousin of mine from Bratislava in the former Czechoslovakia gave me a tape of a live album by well known Blues Rock/Hard Rock act Katapult. The band stared off in 1975 and became one of the best known national acts in the country. I always loved that live album, but can’t find the tape anymore. I have found discogs sellers here in the US that have Katapult albums for sale so I’ll get it on vinyl, even better. It’s just one of those bands that bring back memories of childhood after my parents had fled Czechoslovakia in ‘79. The clip I am posting includes just one original member, Oldrich Riha, but the performance set in a small and intimate setting certainly rocks. Happy Tuesday!

Same shit different month, but oh wait it’s July 1 and that means Canada day. Our much politer and less noisy neighbors to the North are celebrating their nation today, and no doubt do they have more reason to actually be proud of their nation’s achievements. The people of Newfoundland and Labrador should especially be celebrating the release of Schizoid’s recorded material from the ‘80s collected onto one LP released by New York’s TeePee records in the last few weeks. Crossover done right was great, and these guys did everything right by combining the rawness of hardcore punk with the rawness of the early Thrash Metal days. I will need to grab myself a copy, and so should you. Happy Wednesday, and a happy holiday to my friends in Canaduh!

Who killed vinyl was a good question back in 2000 when vinyl releases were more of a rarity and bands like Discontent landed on labels like Hostage Records from Orange County in Southern California because those labels never gave up on releasing vinyl, especially on the 7” format. These days vinyl is a commodity that’s celebrated and has become part of the hipster lifestyle. Is it good, or bad? I think a bit of both. It’s funny, because Buffalo lacks a lot of things, but one thing it doesn’t are record stores as there really are plenty of. Happy Thursday!
Friday, July 3, 2026:
Since I am off from work today after a fun night hanging out with my friend Matt I finished watching the Crass: The Sound of Free Speech - The Story of Reality Asylum documentary on Night Flight. As everything that was Crass, it’s intense, powerful, truthful and interesting. I think the documentary is well done and worth seeking out, so make sure you get to see it one way or another. At the very end of the movie there is music by Steve Ignorant’s Slice of Life, and I honestly never paid any attention to this project of his. It’s a shame as it’s truly moving, hence my pick for today. Happy Friday!

Happy 4th to everyone here in the US of A. What are we supposed to be happy about though? I think just like any other day, but maybe even more importantly today we should all ask ourselves the questions whether we are really free, whether we live in a democracy or a plutocracy, and how we would like the country to change going forward? I for one will try to ignore the blind patriotism and the endless celebrations of our military and the never ending lies that we live in a free nation. Freedom looks and smells differently, have a great day!

I for one am glad that July 4 is behind us, and that this so called celebration of the greatest nation on earth will hopefully quiet down over the weeks and months to come. At least here in Buffalo the general mood seemed rather subdued, no wonder with the clowns we have sitting in the White House and the general direction this country has been headed. Anyhow, enough of the political crap and more about music. Last night my wife and I sat a bit in the backyard taking in the much appreciated breeze and some good old soul over our little Tribit speaker. At one point I said if there is one thing America can be proud of, it is the rich history of music this nation has gifted us over the decades. According to my little research HIB Records from Detroit only ever managed to release the one single by Luther Ingram, which is a shame as I am sure the plan was to compete with Motown Records. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this track from 1966, and have a wonderful day!
