Every day at least one song - Week # 67 (June 22, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Monday, June 22, 2025:

It’s a dreary Monday morning and it’s tough to get myself back into working mode, but such is the reality. Anyway, I won’t bore you too long with depressing shit here and instead kick off the week with The Erections from Japan, a band that at least at one point even boasted a former member of The Discocks and pretty much sounds like them as well. Nothing wrong with that as the silly Oi Punk obviously influenced by UK’s The Ejected puts me instantly in a better mood. Happy Monday!

Tuesday, June 22, 2026:

I think I’ll have to start posting more often in the evenings as my mind seems pretty much fried in the morning and there isn’t much I can come up with. Anyhow, back in the ‘80s I absolutely loved the Varukers, and for some reason I have never seen the band live. Their singer Rat later joined a reformed version of Discharge and has been shouting in the Vile for some time now as well. The band is currently finishing up a European tour, so go see them if you want your ears to bleed. Happy Tuesday!

Wednesday, June 24, 2026:

Hard to believe that it’s been already ten years since Brexit. I still have a hard time believing that stupidity prevailed and people were fed bullshit propaganda to ultimately enrich people like Nigel Farage and his cronies. A decade on the GDP has shrunk by about 6% to 8%, trade barriers persist and inflation is high. Before I left the UK for the US in 2012 I couldn’t have imagined that only a few years later such drastic changes would come into effect, but we live in a polarized world where anything seems possible. I hope everyone had a good day!

Thursday, June 25, 2026:

Last week I had mentioned that while reading Chris Walter’s book I was discovering some Canadian bands from more recent times I have never heard of. Alcoholic White Trash are part of that group and while there is not much to be found on the intranet, there are some good live clips on U-Tube. As the band name suggests the fine gentlemen didn’t believe in mincing words and were outspoken about all kinds of pressing issues. And by the way, I certainly make sure I change my underwear every day. Have a clean day!

Happy Friday, and welcome to the last working day, at least for most of us. As much as I love punk rock and hardcore punk I often do say the ‘60s must have been the most exciting decade for music with so much evolving and with a seemingly endless supply of garage bands springing up just about anywhere. The Cave Men from Florida released just one 45 single in 1966 on Chelle Records, and it’d definitely not trash. Have a great day!

Saturday, June 27, 2026:

With the weather slowly but surely heating up I am bracing for what’s coming next week with the temperatures expected in the 90s every day. So far the summer has been relatively cool, and unlike in Europe here in Buffalo we have not been suffering from the results of global warming and rising temperatures, at least not yet. Not a week I look forward to by any means. Anyhow, Smack from Finland were around for eight years or so, having started in ‘82 before disbanding in ‘90. During that time they managed to release four albums and some people argue that they were a big influence on the Grunge movement. I can see why someone would have made the argument, and Nirvana apparently covered the song I am posting today during their early days. Happy Saturday!

Sunday, June 28, 2026:

Yesterday was one heck of a day as my wife and I went out to get flowers to put outside in front of the house and the project turned into an all day event. Needless to say I or we are very tired today so while scrolling the intranet this morning I came across the news that Jeffrey Lee Pierce would have turned sixty eight yours old yesterday. Unfortunately he’s been no longer with us for three decades, but the music lives on. Gun Club were in my opinion a superb band as they blended punk rock, blues, rockabilly and Americana in a perfect way resulting in a unique sound.
