Every day at least one song - Week # 66 (June 15, 2026)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!
Monday, June 15, 2026:
Well, after a short break of a few weeks “Every day at least one song” is back with a vengeance. To be honest with you, I’ve missed the daily routine, and maybe some of you have missed the songs I post, you never know. Anyhow, in the meantime the world hasn’t gotten better, inflation hasn’t come down, and the clown in the White House has turned eighty years old as of yesterday. Over the past few weeks I’ve been reading the newest book by Canadian punk rock author Chris Walter. It’s basically a journey through Chris’ up and down life chronicled through the lenses of which bands and records he discovered at various times during his life. The Spitfires from Vancouver is one of those bands I’ve definitely come across in the past, but have unfortunately never taken the time to look into more closely. Well, as I always say it’s never too late and thanks to Chris praising the band highly I have checked out some of their music and like what I’ve heard so far. So, to fire up your Monday here a song from their first record released in 1998 on CD only. Happy Monday!

Imagine having to live in a place where at any time your house or apartment building could be blown up in the name of “fighting terrorism”. Ta2Reeban from Beirut in Lebanon have to do just that, hence I understand even more that their version of hardcore punk is played with conviction and at a back breaking speed at times. I discovered this band just a couple of days ago through FB as the band was playing in London, UK on Sunday and quite frankly hardcore bands from their part of the world are rare and worth checking out. One thing that doesn’t stop to amaze me these days is the sheer amount of good new bands from pretty much every corner of this world and from pretty much any genre one can think of. Bomber hail from sunny Los Angeles and up until recently I was not familiar with them. Friends of mine saw them at the Dr. Strange Festival in Southern California not too long ago, so I did some research and like them a lot. These scene veterans previously played in bands such as The Generators or Bovver Wonderland and are not new to cranking out melodic yet tough ‘80s influenced Oi punk anthems. Check out their 12” EP on Longshot Music and I hope you all had a great day!

On this rainy and stormy morning it’s hard to get up and get going, but it sure helps that a long weekend is ahead. Soko Mettigel hail from my favorite German city Hamburg and play intelligent Deutschpunk. The guitar work somehow reminds me a little bit of a great Deutschpunk band of the past, Razzia, also from Hamburg. People in Hamburg have always had the privilege of having great local bands, something a lot of people seem to ignore, no matter where. Get off your phone, and go see your local bands! Today we celebrate Juneteenth, and I think we should all remind ourselves that history and learning about history is important, especially in this day and age with a lunatic in the White House attempting to change history to his liking and thinking. Son House comes from the long list of Blues musicians from rural Mississippi Delta struggling to make ends meet. Interestingly Son ended up in Western New York and worked for the New York Railroad in Rochester until he was rediscovered in the ‘60s totally unaware of the Blues revival. I hope everyone has a great day!
Saturday, June 20, 2026:
One thing I’ve always found interesting is the international connections music brings about, and one of them is the Finland-Brazil connection when it comes to hardcore punk. Some of the ‘80s big hitters’ records from Finland like Rattus were released in Brazil for their market as well. There was also always a lot of buying and trading between these two nations on the opposite end of the world, and let’s not forget that Fabio of Olho Seco ran a record store in his native Sao Paolo and always made sure he stocked plenty of Finnish stuff. Last but not least cult Thrash Metal act Sepultura was often spotted wearing shirts by bands like Kaaos, and the list goes on. A somewhat lesser known Finnish band from the ‘80s, Pohjasakka, recently played some shows in Brazil and from the looks of it had a great time. Just fantastic to see so many young and old punks together in a packed room singing along to a tune that was written thousands of miles away in a totally different language. It’s been fun to be back posting a song every day, again I’ve kind of missed it and it puts a routine back into my life. Back in 2013 when the Black Pages from Berlin released their LP I wasn’t buying any records at all as those were the days I lived in NYC and there was just zero money for records. To be honest I was also not paying attention to new(er) bands, hence I missed out on some good stuff, but worse things could happen. I don’t recall how I discovered these guys, but I definitely dig their Observers/Red Dots influenced sound. Will have to get that record one of these days. Happy Sunday!
