Every day at least one song - Week # 64 (April 13, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Aargh, it’s another Monday, and I still don’t feel well. Congrats to the people of Hungary for ousting Victor Orban out of the office after sixteen years. Not that the new government sounds very promising, but one step at a time I suppose. My father is half Hungarian as my grandfather was from Austro-Hungary, and I visited Budapest when I was about seven years old, many moons ago that was. Aurora must be the longest-running punk rock act from Hungary, having been founded all the way back in ‘83, still deep under Soviet control and communism. Happy Monday folks!

So, tax season is coming to an end and our visit to the tax man wasn’t a pleasant one to put it mildly. Let’s just say that an overseas trip that we had planned for later this year seems now much unlikelier. I am tired, still struggling with a horrible cough and allergies, and just want to go and lie down. I really know absolutely nothing about Furious Dudes, but Florida sure as hell does suck, even though I’ve never been down there. Don’t have much desire to go there either. The song kicks ass though, and not much else needs to be said. I hope you all had a great day!

Wednesday, April 15, 2026:

Well, slowly but surely I am starting to feel somewhat better, about time. This morning on the bus ride to work my bus friend and I discussed how we prefer our potatoes to be prepared. Turns out that even though I do like mashed potatoes I prefer my wife’s potatoes to be baked or steamed. Dee Dee Sharp obviously likes mashed potatoes, which was one of her big hits, this one being from 1962. Interestingly enough at one point Dee Dee was also engaged to a certain Muhammad Ali but that’s a whole different story. Hope you had a great day!

It’s always great when friends suggest new bands to me. What I seriously miss in this modern digital world is that there obviously is a ton of information out there, but it’s not concentrated in one space like it used to be with printed fanzines. I miss the days of fanzines where you’d find the newest releases reviewed instead of finding information on facebook or other soulless social media sites. But anyway, the ‘80s post-punk sound hasn’t died down and Lathe of Heaven from New York City do a good job of recreating the feel and sound of long gone times. I’ll try to be back on track and post something tomorrow morning. Hope everyone had a good day!

Friday, April 17, 2026:

Happy Friday everybody! After having felt quite shitty for over a week I am finally starting to feel better, minus the lingering cough. The weather seems to be calming down as well as we’ve had a lot of rain here. I saw the Slads from Philly back in ‘24 if I am not mistaken, or was it last summer? Regardless, they were great. Nothing ever wrong with UK influenced old school punk rock with lots of melodies, hooks and choruses. And with that I hope you have a great last working day!

Saturday, April 18, 2026:

Today is Record Store Day, a day I generally speaking never hit up record stores as they tend to be crowded with people that normally don’t visit record stores and are desperate for that Taylor Swift LP. Still, if it brings independent record stores extra income, than I am happy for them as they desperately need it. Just the other day I read a billboard article that second hand record sales are through the roof, and I am not shocked in all fairness. It’s my favorite market but in recent years I have seen prices to be steadily climbing. Still, especially on a day like today, look through those bargain bins as you never know what you might find. Have a great day!

Sunday, April 19, 2026:

Busy day today with two huge Premier League games and the first game between Buffalo and Boston in the NHL play offs. A great late win by Liverpool in the early game in the Merseyside derby and Man Shitty have just scored the first goal against Arsenal to be equalized almost immediately. But hey, no worries I am not going to bore you anymore with sports as music will always be the king in this house. Yesterday I did end up going to my local record store up the road and bought some soul and blues records, nothing RSD related. George, the proprietor, told me to give Leon Bridges a listen, a current soul artist, but very much influenced by the golden age of soul. I like what I hear and see and shall pick up one of his records next time. Have a great Sunday!
