Every day at least one song - Week # 63 (April 06, 2026)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Always tough to get up on a Monday, especially after a holiday. It is what it is though, and last week Angus Young turned seventy-one years young. The Bon Scott era AC/DC were my first musical love as I was gifted “Highway To Hell” for christmas when it had come out and from then on I was hooked to rock’n’roll. May Angus live many more years, and you have a great day!

I don’t feel too hot today, so I stayed home. It looks like it’s just my spring allergies acting up badly as it certainly felt like a cold last night when I couldn’t sleep all that well. Chin Chin started out in 1982 in the small city of Biel in Switzerland and it seems that they got the respect due to them only in recent years thanks to some reissues. They were influenced by punk rock, as well as female soul acts and indie pop. They were also well connected with the boys in Hungry For What (ex-Sozz), originally from Biel as well, hence their releases featured on Farmer Records. Some of the Chin Chin members went on to form Sophisticated Boom Boom after the split up, a project that took them into even more poppier fields. Have a great day!

Happy 45th birthday to the “Blue Album” aka The Adolescents’ first album released back in 1981. Two sources on FB informed yesterday that it was released on April 7, whereas Discogs claims it wasn’t until May of ‘81. Regardless, I’m going with the first source and post my favorite song off of that amazing album, which by the way does not have a single crappy song. There just weren’t and aren’t too many albums like that one around, and the music sounds as fresh as forty-five years ago. Happy Wednesday!

Still feeling under the weather here, so bear with me. I’ve never been much of an Exploited fan to tell you the truth. They were only ever really good when Big John was part of the line-up, hence I am posting a video from said time period. On top of that it’s a really funny Top of the Pops appearance with some people looking all posh turning into a punk rock frenzy. Dead Cities also describes the city of Buffalo/NY pretty accurately, a city that for the most part sleeps and is as dead as it can only be. And with that I hope you had a better day than myself. Enjoy your evening!

I’ve been up since 4:45 this morning as I couldn’t sleep with this ongoing head cold mixed with allergy season. Hopefully the last day of the working week won’t be a disaster. Yesterday I finished reading Gareth Ashton’s excellent book on the early punk rock scene in Manchester. If you are interested to hear from a lot of different people who were there at the very beginning of punk rock in Manchester, get the book. The Panik were one of the bands that do get mentioned in the book as I was in no mood to post any of the more obvious Manchester bands, so here you go. Happy Friday!

It’s a nice and sunny day out there but I suppose I’ll be spending most of it inside as I am still fighting this head cold and spring allergies. Die Anstalt hail from Berlin in Germany and are with certainty fans of ‘80s acts from the electronic music and NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle) sector and transport that feeling well into modern day 21st century. They have self-released two records in the past year or two and I hope to hear more from them. Have a great day!

Time for another new track as this week’s been mostly songs from way back when. Weird Bloom hail from the capital of Italy, Rome, and play glam rock the way it was performed in the early ‘70s. Sure, one could argue it’s been done before, but it’s always nice to see bands that bring a certain feeling of long gone days back. And with that, happy Sunday!
