Every day at least one song - Week # 61 (March 23, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Castro are from Norway and include quite a few old timers, above all Katja on vocal duties. I saw Katja with Life But How To Live it? back in the late ‘80s when she was on tour with her band and So Much Hate, that was one heck of a show. I didn’t know about her activities with Castro until a few days ago, so here you go. It’s modern day pissed off hardcore punk the way I like it, and with that I wish you a good start to the week and a happy Monday!

It’s tax season here in the US, a very exciting time for businesses making a buck out of promising you a nice return on your tax returns. Remember, according to a statement made by Benjamin Franklin in 1789 only death and taxes are certain, something that rings true to this day. But let me not bore you to death with taxes as Barcelona based band Dead People deliver the goods with “Waiting”. Have a great Tuesday night!

I am of the firm belief that humor, even if not always classy, is important in music, hence I have an appreciation for the Mentors. Sure, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I fully understand that. The band was originally from Seattle and later relocated to Los Angeles. Their first release in 1983 was made possible through Mystic Records before the band took on a more metal oriented sound and signed with Death Records, a subsidiary of Metal Blade. You may not have axed for it, but here you go. Have a great evening!

I’ve not been up to the task to post in the morning so I’m behind and have to think about something in the evening when my mind is more tired and slower. Anyhow, Australian bands don’t let you down and with rain pouring down the soaked streets here in Buffalo, it only seems fitting to post a band from “Down Under” where the weather is most likely much better. Psychotic Turnbuckles started off in the ‘80s and play perfect retro ‘60s garage rock, nothing else needs to be said. Have a great one!

The Cramps; unfortunately I somehow ignored them for way too long, and please don’t ask me why. They are not the only better known bands I have left for others to adore, but one that sticks out. The Cramps’s music drew influences from previous decades, something that should really appeal to me as rockabilly, ‘60s garage punk or blues are major ingredients the Cramps used to spice up their music. Rest in peace Lux, and a happy Friday to you all!

Hey ho folks and welcome to Saturday. Rock’N’Roll is well alive as long as bands like the Whiskey Daredevils keep cranking out the tunes and keep us shaking our hips. The band hails from Cleveland/Ohio and has been active since 2004. They play Buffalo in the next two weeks, so I should really move my aging bones to their show. Have a great day!

Yesterday I learned of another sad passing earlier this week as Ross Friedman aka “Ross The Boss” has sadly gone to the other side. I first heard Ross on guitar in ‘84 or the year after when I bought Manowar’s “Hail To England” on vinyl. I was taken by the record artwork but remember being rather disappointed in the music. Of course later on I learned about his roots in the Dictators, the other band he is best known for having formed in ‘73 and in which he played much later on again after they had reformed. Unfortunately I never got to see the Dictators, but this clip from ‘77 at the CBGB shows the unrelenting power the band unleashed. Happy Sunday!
