Every day at least one song - Week # 58 (March 02, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Mondays truly suck, but let’s start the week off with D. Sablu from New Orleans in Louisiana. I don’t know anything about these guys, but this song from their latest EP seriously kicks ass. This is hardcore punk at its very best, just a real shame the records these guys put out are hard to get. Anyhow, hopefully this cracker of a song will make it easier to get through Monday, enjoy!

Back in 1981 when the Buzzcocks disbanded after having had major success with their pop punk brand of songwriting Pete Shelley went back to his original love of electronic music and replaced the guitar with a synthesiser. “Homosapien” was the first single he recorded and while the song was banned by the BBC for referencing gay sex it peaked at No. 14 in the US dance charts. I recall that during my brief stint working at Southern Records in London in 2007 I listened to the Pete Shelley album on CD up and down. It always put me in a good mood and the man was simply a great songwriter, Rest in Peace. Happy Tuesday!

Today is my wife’s birthday, so Irma Thomas’ song is dedicated to her for putting up with me for almost two decades now. At times we love making each other’s lives difficult, and my wife claims I plan on running to the bathroom at the same time to piss her off. My bladder seems to think otherwise but I do like a good conspiracy theory. Irma Thomas just turned 85 years old a couple of weeks ago, and with that I hope I have many more years to come with my beautiful wife. Lotsa love Trish and a great day to you all!

Home Front from Edmonton/Canada have taken clues from the post-punk and Oi years of the ‘80s when bands like Blitz started to sound like Joy Division while Oi was still going strong. They perfect the marriage between Synth Punk, Oi and Pop music and have found themselves on the hugely popular La Vida Es Un Mus record label of of London/UK. I believe they will be touring this way pretty soon as well so let’s see if I can catch them with no Buffalo show planned. Have a great day!

For reasons unbeknownst to me we haven’t been able to enter our job since yesterday due to a power outage, something that has provided me with some extra time to finally work towards finishing up a lengthy and detailed interview I conducted with Marco of No Front Teeth Records to be published in Razorcake Fanzine at some point soon. Bart and the Brats from France have been released on NFT so perfect time to blast some modern day French punk rock to get you into weekend mood. Merci and have a great day!

On this day forty six years ago in 1980, Northern Irish punk rock band Stiff Little Fingers released their second studio album “Nobody’s Heroes”. This era of the band was commercially quite successful as proven by several appearance on Top Of The Pops. Stiff Little Fingers perform to this day and are funnily enough a band I have never seen live. Happy Saturday!

So, here in the US of A we already changed to Daylight Saving Time as of last night. I had to put the alarm on this morning as Olga the dog had an appointment at her groomer at 8. Of course the groomer was late and so the day has begun a bit upside down. The Shames were from Ipswich in the great State of Massachusetts and released like many of their contemporaries just one 45RPM back in 1967. Basically any garage rock release from that year is fantastic, that’s just another useless fact for your Sunday reading. Have a great one!
