Every day at least one song - Week # 57 (February 23, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Die Spitz hail from sunny Austin/Texas and have been around just a few short years. Last year they released their first full length on Jack White’s Third Man Records. They even have their own Wikipedia entry, so go and read up what you should know about these ladies. It’s Monday, and I got not much more to say. Have a good one!

Time for an all time classic me thinks. I am currently reading the excellent “Manchester: It never rains…A city primed for Punk Rock” book, which I highly recommend. About halfway through I can tell you that it’s a detailed account of how the city was back in the ‘70s, a far cry from the city it is today. And on a whole Manchester’s early punk rock scene was different to London’s, something that the book describes very well. Manchester has also gifted the world one of the most important bands the punk rock world has ever seen, the Buzzcocks. I will never forget their show in Mulhouse/France in ‘98 if memory serves me right. The minute the band played the first few chords the place erupted into a dancing frenzy for the next hour or so, just brilliant. Happy Tuesday!

Last night I ended up watching the State of the Union and the longest speech of a President in the history of this nation. Trumpy Dumpy needs to be No. 1 in everything, so he babbled on and on about how great he is and how great America is again, nothing new there. At times I fell asleep and at times I couldn’t help to be laughing out loud waking up my wife. I have always been of the belief that being a Trump supporter must be like being in a cult, hence today’s song is taken from one of my favorite albums and when listening to it just replace the Megawiki cult with MAGAwiki cult. And with that I hope that you have a wonderful day!

A half century ago, on February 23, 1976 to be exact, AC/DC filmed the video for “It’s a long way to the Top” on Swanston Street in Melbourne/Australia. The use of bagpipes is clearly what sticks out in this song, and it should come as no surprise that it was Bon Scott who encouraged the use of pipes because of his previous experience in a pipe band. I suppose he forgot to mention that he was a drummer in said band. Never the less, it all worked out wonderfully and the fact that this song and video are still much talked about fifty years on just proves how great the music of the Bon Scott era of the band was and remains to this day. Happy Thursday!

Hoorah we made it to Friday, and most likely we got poorer by doing so. The Neckarions do actually not hail from the US as you would suspect, but from Stuttgart in the south of Germany. Their singer is American though and sounds a bit like a certain Mr. Biafra I think, but that is not a bad thing. “The rich get richer” couldn’t describe the wealth distribution in this world any better as greed from the Top 1% has been getting increasingly more and more perverse. Just look at the Tech companies and the rise of AI which has already led to massive layoffs to cut costs and to prioritize maximum profits for shareholders. Where is this all going and what will it lead to? You tell me…Happy Friday!

There are or were many “Dogs” bands, with the one from Rouen in France maybe not being the one people think of in first place. The French Dogs started as early as 1973 and begun so by covering bands such as the Flamin’ Groovies or the Kinks. Later in the ‘70s they started to release records and became more known in the burgeoning punk scene. Still, their roots in rock’n’roll and pub rock remained part of their sound and image and in a way they remind me of the Belgian kings of punk’n’roll The Kids. Have a great Saturday!

Sunday, March 1, 2026:

Well well, welcome to March folks. Time flies and it seems like it was just yesterday we celebrated New Year’s and now we’re around the corner from spring. The weather’s been on the up as well with temperatures going up and I hear March is predicted to be warmer than usual here in Buffalo, which would be a welcome after much of the winter felt like being stuck in a deep freezer. But anyhow, enough of that and on to Team 4, a quartet that hailed from East-Berlin in the ‘60s and was influenced by a certain band from Liverpool. I learned about these lads via the excellent VG- YouTube channel, and as someone who was born in ex-Czechoslovakia I am always interested in the history of music behind the iron curtain. I hope you have a great Sunday, and an even better week ahead!
