Every day at least one song - Week # 55 (February 09, 2026)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

Welcome to Monday fellow Rock’N’Rollers, the most exciting day of the week it is again. Yesterday forty six years ago on February 8 in 1980 “Running Free” was released as a 45 rpm Single, Iron Maiden’s debut single. As a youngster at around the age of twelve I fell in love with Maiden, especially the first two albums with Paul Di’Anno on vocals, rest in peace. In 1982 I wasn’t into punk yet, but the punk-metal sound of early Maiden really appealed to me and directly or indirectly set me on a road to hardcore punk a bit later in said decade. And with that keep on running free and have a great Monday!

Temperatures here in Buffalo/NY will go above freezing for the first time in twenty days today, time to celebrate. I suppose it’s going to feel like a heatwave and going out in my underwear sounds like a plan. I don’t know where the Alcoholics came from, but in 2017 a collection of their recorded material named “East of Sepulveda” was released and since Sepulveda Blvd is in Los Angeles I imagine that’s where they hailed from. Today’s song is off of their 1981 released very rare EP, a quirky and funny song absolutely perfect for a Tuesday. Have a good one!

I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but if you are someone that’s interested in modern day Oi Punk you will know that the French do it best, at least in my opinion. The younger bands and generations in belle France can look back at the bands the country has given them during the ‘80s and with Komintern Sect, Camera Silens et al they were spoiled. So, in that sense the tradition continues and Bromure are just one of those bands that excite not just us old timers, but especially a whole new breed of fans around the world. This band from Paris consists of members of Alvilda and Lion’s Law, and maybe more? Regardless, this song rules and with that I wish you a happy Wednesday!

Great to have a day off from work, but with snow falling outside and a doctor’s appointment in the afternoon it could have been better. Regardless, I’ll take it any day over work. Baerchen und die Milchbubis formed in the late ‘70s in Hannover/Germany and released one full length on the legendary No Fun Records from said city in ‘81. After having disbanded in ‘82 the band got back together a few years ago and bring back the sound from yesteryear with lyrics dealing with getting old but staying young at heart, such as in today’s song. Happy Thursday!

Hey Ho, it’s Friday the 13th and I hope you are all scared to shits. The other day I got an e-mail at my job from a young fellow that works at the same place reminding me about that one evening after work when we talked about music. Turns out said young man is in a band that just released a new album (streaming only for now). Soft Cough are basically a NY State band with some members living downstate and some upstate and as in the case of my work colleague, here in Buffalo. If dreamy indie pop is your thing I think these gentlemen do an excellent job at it and I sure hope today’s song sets you in a weekend mood. Happy Friday!

I hope you all survived Friday the 13th and while being still alive enjoy Valentine’s Day wherever you are in this crazy world. Portland in Oregon has over the decades gifted us many a great band, and it’s no different with Cut Piece. I discovered these ladies and one gentleman this morning and the list of bands these guys have been or still are in is almost as long as the highway leading from Buffalo to New York City. Enjoy some crackin’ punk rock and have a great day!

Well well, it’s Sunday again and with the weather having warmed up and this morning being a sunny and bright morning things are starting to look up weather wise as we desperately needed a break from the deep freeze we’ve had for over two weeks. The Unknowns from Brisbane in sunny Australia are currently touring Europe, so should they play in your city or nearby, make sure you check out their show as they are one of the countless exciting new Aussie bands. I know I sound like a broken record, but it is hard to keep up with how many great acts have sprung up down under in the last few years. And with that, enjoy your Sunday!
