Every day at least one song - Week # 54 (February 02, 2026)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. Now in its second year I shall continue to post at least one song every day, old and new and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!

All right it’s Monday again and after a hectic week of posting requests normal business resumes so to speak. Yesterday my wife put on Rhythm Revue from the previous day, a great radio show if you are into classic soul. I was familiar with the Soul Brother Six hit “Some kind of wonderful” but haven’t heard it in a long time. It’s such a great tune by this Rochester/NY group written in 1967 and breaking into the Top 100 at No. 91. I hope you all have a good start to the new week, Happy Monday!

I realized that during last week’s special the songs requested were nearly exclusively from the US or Canada. I’m going to change that up fast this week and keep it far more international as per usual. Pobel und Gesocks from the Ruhr Valley in Germoney have been around for a long time and originally started out as the Beck’s Pistols. After having been sued by the Beck’s Beer Brewery they were forced to change their name and have since operated as Pobel und Gesocks. Their songs deal with every day life looking through the lense of alcohol excesses and sex & drugs and rock’n’roll. If you are easily offended and speak German, please keep on scrolling. Happy Tuesday!

On this ice cold Wednesday morning my knees still feel a bit shot from yesterday’s Arthritis injections hence hopefully today won’t be too bad. Tetsu Arrey were formed all the way back in ‘83 if the discogs entry is to be believed. They are often referred to as the Japanese Motorhead as well, albeit I think they molded their sound to that liking in the ‘90s mainly. When I was in Tokyo in ‘97 I did have a chance seeing them at a gig with many other bands, and they were great. Today’s song is off of a late 1980s compilation LP I do have a bootleg version of if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, enjoy some Burning Spirit Japanese Hardcore Punk and have a great day without any machine trouble!

Before we finally start to see some of the piles of snow and ice melting a little bit we are currently going through some real deep freeze weather that even I have difficulties to deal with since I generally like winters. Anyhow, let’s keep on banging out the hits and today I give you Chuzpe from the beautiful country of Austria. They were one of the first and most important bands when it comes to punk/new wave aus Oesterreich. Funny enough their cover version of Joy Division’s hit ‘Love will tear us apart’ landed them in No. 2 on Austria’s Hit Parade in ‘81. Today’s song though is from the very early phase of the band which also features on the “Es Chaos ist die Botschaft” Compilation LP of early Austrian punk rock which I reviewed a long time ago. Happy Thursday!

Hey Ho it’s Friday and time to blast something new(ish) and Split Dogs from the UK come to my mind as they have not just been recording great wild punk’n’roll but are also very actively playing live. Judging from the photos I see online they must be a heck of a live band, I doubt they would want to come over to the US right now, but who knows in the future. If you want to learn more about the band, here’s an interview. Hope you all have a great Friday!

The cold weather out there reached a new high with my fingers nearly freezing after fifteen minutes of shoveling snow out there, and I did wear gloves. Anyhow, all I hear on the TV this morning is Bad Bunny this, Bad Bunny that. Our dog Olga does not like bunnies, she’d love to run after them. Me, I don’t care for bunnies and researched songs focusing on bunnies. I came up with a song by Punk Bunny featuring Jan Terri, an interesting character from Chicago originally. Seems like she has made a life for herself creating unorthodox and quite frankly funny DIY music videos. I need to find out more about Jan Terri. Happy Saturday and stay warm!

All right, something really obscure for today’s song. Sonja Mitrovic Hani was born in Belgrade/Serbia in ex-Yugoslavia. At the age of sixteen she sang in a group called Hani, and no record was ever put out. Instead the song I am posting today appeared on a Compilation LP highlighting local/national talent back in ‘82. Clearly influenced by female singers like Blondie, but being sung in Serbian it adds a different flavor to the kitschy but nevertheless great new wave/pop sound. Since then she continued pursuing a career in music and became a well known pop dance singer and a producer in her native Serbia. Have a great Sunday!
