Every day at least one song - Week # 52 (January 19, 2026)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!

Happy Martin Luther King Day to everyone here in the US of A. Quite frankly at this point in history this country finds itself removed from the dream Martin Luther King Jr. once had as humanly only possible. On a more positive note today marks the 40th anniversary since the holiday was observed for the first time back in 1986. Public Enemy’s “By the Time I Get to Arizona” is a track about how the state of Arizona fought for the holiday not to be observed and highlights the fact that racism is and always has been a fabric of this nation. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Trump took it upon himself to cancel the holiday all together, but not this year. What we all can take from Martin Luther King Jr. is that it is always worth to fight for a better world and a more just society. Happy Monday!

Aargh, it’s even worse to have to get back to work after a long weekend but what can you do. I watched an interesting interview with Sodom’s Tom Angelripper the other day on Youtube. When I was a youngster back in the ‘80s Sodom were one of the bands I really dug during my Metal years. Unfortunately I don’t have their very early material on vinyl any longer but hopefully it’ll be reissued soon. The “In the Sign of Evil” EP can and should be regarded as one of Black Metal’s finest and most influential, period. Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the middle of the working week, something to be excited about I suppose. I don’t know where exactly Kuudes Tunti hailed from in Suomi-Finland, but it is to be believed that they were a bit of a mystery band. I like their post-punk approach to sound writing with the echoey vocals and the tribal-style drumming very much in the foreground and caring the sound. They released just one LP back in ‘84 and were in existence between ‘80 and ‘85. Happy Wednesday!

Let’s stick around in the North of Europe for a bit longer and dedicate today’s song to the people of Denmark who have shown disdain towards our dear President concerning the issue of Greenland. In Danish “langtidsledig” means long-term unemployment, hence I assume the band was at the time referring to their own problems of finding work, or just in general. One is for sure, it’s a problem that hasn’t gone away across the globe to this day. City-X released several EP’s and one LP while a decade ago or so American label GTA also released a Discography CD of their recordings. Happy Thursday!

Well, to tell you the truth why leaving the North of Europe with the abundance of great music having been recorded there over the decades. So, in that sense let’s take the bridge from Denmark to Sweden; anyone having watched the great crime show by the same name? Voice of a Generation hailed from Orebro and started out in the Mid-90’s. I saw them once at some music convention in Cologne/Germany, they were a blast. With a band name like that you will have guessed what their major influences were, and you’re not wrong. If you are in the US and tend to live to the East of this crazy place, stay warm and drink lots of hot chocolate! Happy Friday!

To tell you how cold it is in Buffalo and over large swaths of the United States right now our furnace had difficulties to keep up and literally had to warm up over the morning to resume normal service. Prisonnier Du Temps from France are a project of Jacky of Syndrome 81 fame and have actually played in Buffalo last year, or was it in 2024? Regardless, it was a cool show and the French must be the leading country when it comes to the best Oi bands in recent times. It’s unfortunate that it’s so freezing out there, otherwise I’d go see Buffalo’s Taker tonight celebrating the release of their first record. Stay warm and a happy Saturday!

After yet another killing of an American citizen by the ICE and DHS nazi squad it is absolutely about time America wakes up before this country descends even deeper into the arms of autocracy and fascism. I am pretty sure I have posted the Dayglo Abortions before, but that surely doesn’t matter. I have great memories seeing them in ‘91 in Toronto and again a few years later in Zurich/Switzerland, where my friend Alain and I organized the gig. Tomorrow marks one year of me posting every day at least one song, get ready for a week of songs chosen by some of the followers of this page. Cheers and a happy Sunday to all of you!
