Every day at least one song - Week # 50 (January 05, 2026)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!

It’s not been a great start to the new year health wise as I have been struggling with some serious pain in my feet, and as a result of that I haven’t been able to make it to work today. Unfortunately more and more of the old time punk rockers around the world are leaving us, no different with Northern Ireland scene stalwart Petesy Burns who played in a number of bands over the decades, including The Outcasts as seen in the video I post today. Rest in Peace Petesy, and thanks for all the great music. Stay safe and have a good day!

Feeling slightly better today and with that it is back to work and hoping I can stand and walk on my feet well enough for the remainder of today. I have never heard of The Outlets until a few days ago discovering today’s song on Facebook. And what a power pop smasher it is, I sure as hell can’t get enough of it. Interestingly the band was led by guitarist Rick Barton, who many years after having started The Outlets was a founding member of the Dropkick Murphys as well. It’s a small world, and I am happy to always learn something new. Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday marked the five year anniversary of the January 6 riots in and outside the White House back in 2021. If you have just one brain cell left you will know exactly what it was, an attempt of Cheeto Hitler to remain in power. What didn’t work back then could unfortunately work in three year’s time as the “Orange Man” has surrounded himself with lunatics of all sorts, he himself refers to them as loyals. This site is not overly political but I will call out on our current squatter in the White House as have The Owen Guns from Australia with their superb take on our dictator. Happy Wednesday! (watch on Youtube as it’s age restricted…)

Well, a busy day is slowly coming to an end. My feet are slowly but surely starting to feel better, albeit I am still in some pain. My wife bought me some new sneakers that have excellent support and are good for people like myself with a million and one health problems. They look kind of nerdy and remind me of that Seinfeld episode in which Cramer walks around in those big and round shoes with everyone thinking he has a speech impediment. Enough of shoes and on to more serious issues such as our fascist government using ICE to terrorize communities around the US of A. A fitting song I had thought about today is by French punk rock old timers Kidnap with “No SS”, a song that many of us have heard for the first time on the classic MRR Compilation LP Welcome to 1984. Hope you had a great day!

I hope you’ve all had a good day as Friday is coming to an end. It’s been unseasonable warm here for the last few days which makes me think of warmer places, like Australia. For once I leave you alone with exciting new bands from down under and post a song by Peter Quentin, a singer songwriter who was originally born in England, moved to OZ and as far as I know has resided in Los Angeles more recently. Have a good one!

Back in the early ‘80s ex-GDR to be a punk rocker and to play in a band was dangerous, and could very well put you behind bars, which in many cases it did. Chaos was the singer in Wutanfall, one of the most radical bands in the ex-GDR, and he is one of the many that experienced the full force of the Stasi back in those days. I too was born behind the so called Iron Curtain in the former Czechoslovakia but my parents fled communism in ‘79 so I wouldn’t know what it meant to be a punk rocker there with the constant harassment by police and the ensuing brutality many punk rockers in those countries experienced, with the ex-GDR being one of the worst. Anyway, if you want to learn a bit more about Wutanfall and punk rock in the ex-GDR, here’s a decent link. Happy Saturday!

Hey, look the snow is back… Have I missed it, no not really. But it’s winter so let’s not complain too much. Yesterday eight years ago Fast Eddie Clarke passed away. As many of you will know he was the guitarist in the classic Motorhead line-up having recorded a number of records that will never go out of rotation on the turntable. Now, I didnt’ feel like posting an early Motorhead song, as that’d be just too obvious. Fast Eddie continued a musical career after having left Motorhead, hence you’ll get a fantastic song from the ‘90s Fast Eddie era when he reunited with Lemmy for a song written for the “It ain’t over till’ it’s over” record. It shows that had the duo stayed together this is how it would have sounded like with the typical Fast Eddie guitar sound in the foreground and Lemmy’s vocals complementing said, simply loving it. And with that I hope you have a great Sunday!
