Every day at least one song - Week # 43 (November 17, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Woof, it’s Monday evening again and after a busy morning and day at work I am kind of exhausted. Yesterday I finished watching another episode of VG-, a great Youtube channel I highly recommend for German speaking music enthusiasts like myself. In the little ex-GDR special the moderator introduced us to some music that was recorded before the wall came down. Even though Nina Hagen is well known around the world, this great pop tune from 1976 was unknown to me until yesterday. In all fairness I never liked her later stuff all that much, but this is a true earworm. I hope everyone had a decent Monday, cheers!

“Out in the Cold” was The Business’ first recording and came out originally on a Compilation LP back in ‘81. Interestingly enough in my opinion it is their best song ever, maybe because of the fact that the band hasn’t fully morphed into the Oi mode yet. While it’s getting colder out there and one could be tempted to make this about the weather, the songs’ lyrics deal with a much more sinister and serious matter, rape and death. Not a big The Business fan here, but over their lengthy career they had some great tunes, and Micky’s eventual loss to cancer was sad (RIP). Have a great day!

No worries, I won’t be talking too much this morning and shall keep it short. GG Allin & The Jabber’s first LP is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion and not mentioned enough as such in the context of punk rock history. Maybe it’s got to do with GG’s later lifestyle choices, not sure. Regardless, enjoy a cracker of a song, and have a great day!

Out of the ashes of Spike In Vain from Cleveland/OH Prisonshake had their start in ‘87. Somehow I discovered them last night, but it’s never too late I suppose. It’s rock’n’roll at its raunchiest and I certainly don’t mind that. The band released many singles until they finally recorded a full lenght with ex-Dictator Andy Shernoff as the producer in ‘93. Me thinks it’s right up my alley and I should look more closely into the ‘Shake’. Happy Thursday!

It’s Friday, finally. Olga the Dog couldn’t wait to get up this morning to just move her ass from the upstairs bed to her downstairs bed in her crate, go figure. And after just old songs so far this week I figured it wouldn’t be the worst to introduce some “new” muzak for your ears. Then again, is it new, or is it just stolen from the olden days? Regardless, fluppe from Hamburg in Germany dropped their latest single, and I dig the song. And with that I hope you have a great Friday!

I certainly feel love on this early and not very cold Saturday morning. I met Tobi years ago in Brooklyn/NY where he used to reside with his lovely wife Boni. In the meantime they have moved to live in Lucerne, Switzerland, where Tobi is originally from and where I used to see him perform with the Moped Lads many years ago. His musical career spans over decades and I love this video as it highlights Tobi’s wide taste in music, something that can never be a bad thing. I hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

Another week’s coming to an end, and as always with the current political climate we find ourselves in much has happened and it’d be impossible to wrap it into a few sentences. To help us deal with challenging times there’s always music and Japan’s The Execute are today’s choice. The Execute started out as far back as 1981 in Tokyo by their band leader “Lemmy”, an obvious big Motorhead fan. I must have included “Going back” on just about every mix tape I have ever created back in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. “Lemmy” was famously featured on the cover of one of Japan’s best known punk and hardcore compilation LP’s entitled “Greatest Punk Hits”. I hope everyone has a great Sunday and a great week ahead.
