Every day at least one song - Week # 41 (November 3, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Time flies, and I hate to say that it’s the most dreaded day of the week again, Monday. Some NWOBHM might help to get the new week going in the right direction, at least sonically speaking. Seventh Son hail from sunny Barnsley in South Yorkshire/UK and according to my research might be actually still going strong. Today’s song is taken off of their first single from ‘82, presumably released on the band’s own Rising Son Records. And with that, have a great Monday!

Today is election day here in the US of A, and thanks to that I am off at home. While there is really nothing interesting on the ballot in our part of Suburban Buffalo, New York City is in for a big day as a new mayor will be elected. The nutball Republicans, as well as the corporate whore Democrats have been calling frontrunner Zohran Mamdani all kinds of names including Marxist and Communist, of which he is obviously neither. I hope he wins, and I further hope he injects some color back to the city I used to live in. And with that I give you several minutes of the Sick Fucks, the band who hailed Tish and Snooky as their back-up singers, the same sister duo that used to run the Manic Panic boutique on St. Marks Place. Have fun with some silly lyrics and some kick ass music. Happy Tuesday!

Good night yesterday to show the Orange Man in the White House that lots of people are unhappy with the current state of affairs in this country. I have a strong feeling that Erőszakszervezet from Hungary have also lots to say about the state of affairs in their country as they have been stuck with a dictator for quite some time now. I have never heard of them before and discovered the band just last night through FB. Interestingly enough they are influenced by Spanish and South-American anarcho punk first and foremost, that’s according to their bandcamp page. Good stuff me thinks, have a great day!

It’s Thursday, and time to blast one of my favorite songs ever. Hawkwind’s “Silver Machine” reached Number 3 on the UK’s Single Chart back in 1972 when the song was originally released. Vocals are by a certain Lemmy who would reach much success with his own band Motorhead down the years. It’s funny, because Motorhead are my all time favorite band, but for some reason I never gotten into Hawkwind and only recently bought one of their albums, which was a first. Silver Machine was recorded live at London’s Roundhouse and interestingly enough vocals were originally performed by Robert Calvert, the band’s singer. They were thought to be useless and Lemmy did a much better job. The lyrics are about building a time machine, and if it was up to me I’d love for a time machine to take me to the Roundhouse in ‘72 now instead of having to prepare for work. Happy Thursday!

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the weekend since I had no time posting this morning. Well, let me correct that in the sense that I was too busy finishing up the first season of “Karen Pieri”, a great show by the way. Yesterday fifty years ago the Sex Pistols played their first ever gig at the St. Martins School of Art. I imagine that not many people understood what was to come and explode on the music scene. By May of 1976 the band got noticed by a certain Chris Spedding, a well sought after studio musician, and so the first Sex Pistols recordings were put to tape. I love the early raw Pistols sound without wanting to take anything away from Never Mind The Bollocks, and “No Feelings” is one of my favorite tracks by them. Enjoy and happy Friday!

Cheers to my friend Alain in Switzerland for making me aware of these ladies from Berlin just having released their second album “Gift”. Seems like this brand of hardcore punk is getting more mainstream attention now, which is surprising because it’s nothing new, but hey it’s different times and I am happy for anyone to be heard. I just must say that the band name sure as hell sucks, but that’s just my opinion and who cares as long as the music rocks. Have a great day!

The price of meat has always mattered, not just since a certain orange man took over the White House again. Arthur “Killer” Kane and Rick Rivets, both formerly of New York Dolls fame started Corpse Grinders in ‘77. The band only lasted a bit over a year and managed to release one single during that time. In the early ‘80s the band reformed and recorded some more material. Some folks write them off as a stupid hard rock band (really not sure where that came from), and some other folks regard them as an important footnote in the history of NYC punk. But on this rainy Sunday morning all that matters is the price of eggs. Have a great one!
