Every day at least one song - Week # 40 (October 27, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Blah, it’s bloody Monday yet again after a busy weekend filled with chores, got to love it. Anyhow, nothing I can change about that, hence let’s blast one of my favorite early UK punk songs from one of their early EP’s by the Drones from Manchester. Originally released in ‘77 by then roadie for the band Dave Bentley it is one of the strongest early punk rock records in my opinion. Not that my opinion matters though, but just putting it out there for you to act upon. Happy Monday!

When I bought 7 Seconds’ first album “The Crew” back in ‘87 I believe I was sixteen/seventeen years old, and people that were thirty at the time seemed ancient to me. Today I am turning 55 years young, with certainty still young at heart, not so much anymore when it comes to my aging body. I don’t think there is a formula as to how to “keep young”, but I think many of us would agree that music keeps us going with at least a more youthful outlook on life. This song is all about that, and whether you are straight edge or not, that doesn’t matter. I shall hopefully have a beer tonight, but before that work’s calling… Happy Tuesday!

The Stalin were arguably the most important punk band Japan has produced. Singer and band leader Michiro Endo (RIP) was a socialist activist and thought choosing Stalin as their band name was a good idea as the vast majority of Japanese people hate Josef Stalin. Musically speaking the band’s music evolved from a more traditional punk rock sound to hardcore punk, without doubt influencing bands across Japan to adopt a harsher approach which eventually lead to the rise of Japcore. I think The Stalin deserve to be mentioned much more in the global context of punk rock history. And with that I hope you had a great day!

When you think of the song “Tainted Love”, doesn’t the English synth-pop duo Soft Cell come to your mind immediately? Well, that was the case for me at least until I learned that the original version was by a certain Gloria Jones who first recorded the song in 1964 as a B-Side for her single to be released in 1965. This version of the song really didn’t become famous until it was given a second life in the Northern Soul scene in the UK around clubs such as the Wigan Casino. And last but not least, this is all due to my wife asking me about Northern Soul last night as she is fascinated with the fantastic dancing the people performed in the clubs Northern Soul was big. If I had waken your interest now, and you are curious to learn more about the history of this song, read here. Happy Thursday!

Well, Friday it is, everybody’s favorite day of the working week. To tell you the truth I am not a big fan of Halloween, never have. I find the whole commercial aspect of it exactly what you’d expect from corporate America. On the other hand I do appreciate some good old Horror movies and of course the Misfits. So, I’ll be a cheap bastard and post the song you’d expect to hear on Halloween. I really wanted to post the MSP Sessions version of the Misfits classic, but unfortunately it’s not shareable, so here you go with the more muffled and somewhat slower version, which is still great though. And with that Happy Friday, and a spooky Halloween to all of you!
Saturday, November 1, 2025:
Welcome to November folks. I hope you have all survived Halloween well, and your stomach isn’t hurting too much after indulging yourself in candy a bit too much. Anyhow, on to more serious matters while we kick off the new month with Cedric Burnside, the grandson of blues legend RL Burnside. The Grammy-nominated artist is the living embodiment of the Hill Country blues, learning the music under the watchful ears and eyes of his grandfather. And with that, keep it bluesy and have a great Saturday!

Sunday it is yet again, and after having gained one hour with the winter time change it’s time to post the last song for the week. I have never heard of The Born Liars until yesterday when they somehow were suggested to me on YouTube. I must say I dig them a lot and doing a little bit of research I found out that the Houston/TX band released five full length albums between ‘06 and ‘19, something I will need to look more closely at. Well, not much else to say on this sunny yet chilly Sunday morning. Keep on rockin’ folks and have a great day!
