Every day at least one song - Week # 38 (October 13, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Always lovely to be at home instead of at my job, and even lovelier to discover some new exciting acts. These days those bands often hail from down under in OZ, which is also the case with the Gnomes from Melbourne. I’d say simply great and tuneful retro rock’n’roll that couldn’t be any better. Get your dancing shoes on and rock out to these fellas, hope to hear much more from them! Happy Monday!

Now, don’t say I never post anything new. While the song posted is not new and goes back to the ‘80s, the footage is from this past Saturday in Toronto when local Thrash Metal legends Sacrifice celebrated the release of their album “Volume 6” by teaming up with Brian Taylor of ‘80s hardcore punk band Youth Youth Youth on vocals to perform a brilliant version of “Trapped in a World” by Direct Action, yet another great ‘80s hardcore punk act. I like it, and so should you. Hope everyone had a great day!

Welcome to the middle of the week folks. Gonn from Iowa released just two singles back in the ‘60s but have continued recording music well into the ‘00s after having reunited in 1990. I actually remember seeing these cats in London when I lived there, most likely 2009. Today’s song is probably their best known song from the band’s original period, and what a psych smasher it is. With that, have a great day!

Once hockey season starts I usually watch the NHL highlights from the previous night on most mornings while sipping on my coffee and enjoying a bowl of oatmeal. Last night I was actually at the Sabres game here in Buffalo and had a great time seeing them win for the first time this season. This morning I heard that Willie O’Ree turned 90 years old yesterday, which is just amazing. O’Ree is known for having broken the colour barrier in the NHL by being the first black NHL player when he was a winger for the Boston Bruins. This morning I thought about this in terms of music and how little black musicians are talked about when it comes to rock music in general. The three Hackney brothers Bobby, David and Dannis set out to make a name for themselves in Detroit back in ‘71 when they started the band Death. Their choice of band name prevented them for landing a record deal back then and so their sole release from their original incarnation is the incredibly well crafted “Politicians in my Eyes” single from ‘76. Back in 2009 the release and the band were re-discovered as an important piece of Detroit’s rich music history, and the rest is history as they say. The band is set to perform in Nairobi at the We’re Loud Africa Festival next month, something they certainly couldn’t have dreamt of all those decades ago. Happy Thursday!

The heat is blasting early on this October Friday morning as we have reached those days where I have to put on a coat on Olga the dog when walking her. Makes me think of Northern countries in Europe hence today’s song is from Sverige, and with Svettens Soner you get a one hit wonder as the band from Helsingborg started out as early as 1978 and released just one EP in ‘81 only to disappear into oblivion I would assume. Happy Friday!

Cheers to Nico from Oelde in good ole’ Germoney for sending over the latest video of his old school hardcore band Old Virus, which I dig a lot. Not sure whether their band name is referring to the corona virus or the hardcore virus stuck in their body and mind since god knows when. I suppose we’ll find out soon as an album is in the making as well. With that my friends, have a great Saturday!

Let’s round off this week with a beautiful and genius song by Psi Vojaci from the Czech Republic. They started out as early as 1979 when the members were all around fourteen years old and were immediately registered by the secret police as then Czechoslovakia was still a communist country. During the ‘80s the band only played secret gigs, but after the velvet revolution and the fall of communism in 1989 the band lived its best years and was very popular on the club scene. Psi Vojaci was lead by Filip Topol who sadly passed away in 2013, and this song is off of the ‘91 record “Leitmotiv”. I hope everyone has a great Sunday!
