Every day at least one song - Week # 34 (September 15, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Oh no, it’s Monday again. The weekends always go way too fast and there isn’t even enough time to rest up properly, but what can you do? At least my sports teams won, so there is that. Kleenex from Zurich, Switzerland were not on my radar until about the early ‘90s when I found some of their early singles in record stores as I lived in Switzerland at the time. At that time I slowly started to develop a liking for more angular sounds, certainly a departure from the more traditional rock’n’roll derived punk rock sound I had always preferred. Say what you want but these ladies played smart and simple music with great lyrics making fun of consumer society as is the case in this song. No wonder they have influenced so many bands to follow as they showed that you don’t have to be a bunch of blokes to form a band, and you certainly don’t have to play or look hard. Happy Monday!

Tee Vee Repairman from Australia were superb last night, and for a Monday night there was a good crowd in attendance as well. And even though I was at home just after 11PM I feel a bit out of tune this morning getting up, hence I don’t have much to say. Zahn hail from Berlin and play brilliant atmospheric instrumental music instantly lifting my spirits, and hopefully yours as well. Happy Tuesday!

I only ever worked one entire day in the service industry at a restaurant, and that was back in the late ‘90s when I was looking for a job and accepted a position at a Gelateria/Pizza joint close to the main train station in Zurich, Switzerland. I vividly remember that I started around 11am and didn’t get out until around 9pm after having been trained how to serve the ice cream correctly and god knows what else. But, straight after day one I went to see Libertine from the US in Zurich, and at said show a friend of mine told me that I was crazy to do that job and that I should quit, which I did. Not sure why I ever did get rid off of the “See you in the next life” LP as it’s one that was played up and down at the time, but I no longer have it and should get it back. Libertine hailed from New York City and played a great mix of different styles of glam and punk rock. The singer Belvy K also performed with D Generation and the UK Subs at one point. Live they were even better, an unforgettable night for sure. Oh, and about a month after I had quit the restaurant job I found a new job at a warehouse, it was all worth it. Happy Wednesday!

There are so many outstanding French Oi bands these days, but all of them had to get inspiration from somewhere. Sure, many are influenced by UK bands, but to be fair France had their own great Oi punk scene back in the ‘80s and Komintern Sect were one of the best bands out of that whole “Chaos En France” scene. Years ago they came out of retirement and recorded great new songs and toured the world until their singer Carl unfortunately passed away. The music lives on though, and with that I hope everyone has a great day!

Keith Morris turned 70 years young yesterday, and many years ago Mr. Morris was screaming into the microphone how he doesn’t want to turn thirty four, or forty three, but now he’s double that age. I guess many of us couldn’t have pictured in our twenties that decades later we would even remotely be interested in punk rock, let alone in Mr. Morris’ case be still on stage performing. I read Keith’s book quite a while ago and must say that I really enjoyed it. Happy for him to have lived such a long and exciting life, to many more! Hope you guys had a great day!

The Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton finished just a few minutes ago and with the Liverpool win I shall certainly have a better day. There was plenty of action on and off the field and while it wasn’t a brilliant game and Liverpool yet again struggled after being up 2-0, a win is a win. Interestingly enough for a decent sized city Liverpool didn’t produce many punk rock acts, but Instant Agony from Birkenhead across the river Mersey were one of them and started out as early as ‘79. I am not too familiar with their back catalogue, but “No sign of life” is for sure a cracker of a song. Happy Saturday!

Sunday, September 21, 2025:

It’s Sunday, and it’s also the first day of fall, with certainty my favorite season. I suppose summer doesn’t want to go out without a fight, hence today is going to be another sunny and warm day. We’ve had way too many sunny and hot days this past summer and way too little in terms of rain, so I hope that changes swiftly. Shonen Knife were in town yesterday, but unfortunately their show at a free festival was in a VIP tent and not so free. Hey, another time I hope. I enjoy their humor and of course their Ramonesey music, one can never grow tired of that. I hope the powerpuff girls can sort out the political dilemma in this banana republic with Buttercup leading the way. Happy Sunday!
