Every day at least one song - Week # 31 (August 25, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Monday, August 25, 2025:

It’s sucky Monday again, I’ll yawn to that. In all fairness I had no plan what song I’ll post, that always depends on whether I have something fitting to say, but not this morning. I am in the mood for a NWOBHM song though for some reason, so here you go with Iona from Wales, an obscure outfit that was apparently called GBH in ‘77 and is clearly not to be confused with the well known spiky haired group from Birmingham. I hope everyone has a great day!

Sad thing about these days is that we increasingly hear about people that have in one way or another made a mark in our lives passing away. I am sure many of you out there are familiar with the Back from the Grave compilation series on Crypt Records, and if that’s the case then you loved each one of them not just for the music, but also for the fantastic artwork. The illustrator behind those covers was Mort Todd, who sadly passed away yesterday. He was the former editor in chief at Cracked Magazine and the main force behind comicfix. Today’s song is dedicated to Mort and appeared on Volume 1 of Back from the Grave by the One Way Streets from Ohio. We definitely all love peanut butter. Happy Tuesday!

Wednesday, August 27, 2025:

It’s early morning and I for sure need power and energy to follow it up with some action. Action in my case means going to work, how exciting. Well, first some coffee and food though and otherwise I have not much else to say than to point out that Stiff Richards are one of the many outstanding current day bands coming out of Australia. Happy Wednesday!

Thursday, August 28, 2025:

I work half days only this week as our dog walker is off and Olga the Dog needs company lunch time. The schedule is really throwing me off though, my whole system is not used to it albeit I sure as hell could get used to working less. Yesterday afternoon I just fell asleep in the recliner, I suppose my body needed it. Anyway, I am in desperate need for some coffee and oatmeal but before that I give you Punk Lurex O.K. from beautiful Suomi-Finland with a crackin’ punk rock tune from the ‘90s. I do believe these guys and gals are actually still going strong. Happy Thursday!

Friday, August 29, 2025:

Well, Friday’s here, and we have a long weekend ahead of us. Things could be a lot worse I suppose, and on top of that the weather has really cooled off drastically this week, which makes for better sleeping with the windows open and not having to blast the AC at all times. Speaking of cool weather I imagine Iceland being cool for the most part of the year, something I’d like a lot. Musically speaking it’s not all just Bjork either and today’s song by Ego will provide proof for that. I don’t know anything about the band, and the little I saw on discogs is that they certainly weren’t strictly speaking a punk rock band. This song though has a healthy dose of punk rock sound and attitude, and that’s good enough for me. Happy Friday!

Busy, busy day coming slowly to an end ladies and gentlemen. Got up early to walk Olga the dog, to be followed by a visit to a records garage sale in the neighborhood. After a late breakfast with my wife I spent some hours cutting the lawns and doing some chores in the backyard. Back inside and being exhausted I desperately needed a break and a sandwich with a Coke only to realize that it’s past five in the afternoon and I haven’t posted a song for today. I feel like I was on the highway today, speeding from one thing to do to the next one, hence “Autostrada” by Gianna Nannini is the right song to post for that matter, a classic from my favorite Nannini album. I have fond memories seeing her band in the ‘80s as it was a great night out. With that I hope everyone has had a great Saturday!

Sunday, August 31, 2025:

I mentioned in my previous post that I visited a records garage sale yesterday, which takes place about twice a year here in the neighborhood and is being run by a nice gentleman who is originally from Buffalo, but now lives downstate close to New York City. I definitely had the Fools LP a long time ago but it must have been part of a larger pile of records I sold years ago. For five bucks I got it back yesterday, and to me those five buck records are worth having for two to three good songs. I didn’t have a night out yesterday as I was exhausted, but for all of those who did I sure hope the hangover isn’t too bad. Happy Sunday!
