Every day at least one song - Week # 26 (July 21, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Happy Monday folks! Over this past weekend I noticed quite a few posts on social media about the passing of Bill Chamberlain, formerly of many bands including Aus Rotten, The Pist or Caustic Christ to name a few, Rest in Peace Bill. The Pist’s “Ideas are Bulletproof” is in my honest opinion one of the best ‘90s hardcore punk records, and is available to this day as it’s been reprinted. With that enjoy a cracker of a song from said album, and have a great day!

The Eel Men hail from good ole’ London and play Indie Pop with a good dose of Post-Punk. It’s perfect Tuesday music me thinks, and they released their first single on my friend’s Marco No Front Teeth Records. Otherwise I am pretty useless this morning and have not much to say, which is good for you few people out there reading and listening to this garbage I suppose. Happy Tuesday!

I have a little trip coming up this weekend so maybe a feeling of a holiday is in my head, not sure. Regardless, this is a fantastic tune by Norway’s Trashcan Darlings, a band I saw twice when still living in Switzerland. I reviewed their first record a long time ago as well, and with that we have reached the middle of a week. Happy Wednesday!

Another very hot day is ahead of us, and I certainly don’t look forward to it. Oxymoron were quite a big hit in the German underground punk and oi scene back in the ‘90s, and if you ask me their first LP should be considered an all time classic bursting with energy and razor sharp street punk anthems such as my favorite “Dead End Generation”. Happy Thursday folks!

Okay, it's not quite Friday yet, but almost. In the morning I’ll be busy getting ready to head to Cleveland, Ohio to see French Power Pop act Alvilda and to hang out with old friends. I look forward to a weekend away, a shame my wife isn’t joining me though. With that, have a great day and Happy Friday!

I had a fantastic time after having arrived in Cleveland just before lunch time on Friday. My friend SuLee took me to a million places before we made it to the venue where Alvilda played Friday night. There were three opening acts as well, each of them pretty good in their own way. Alvilda were as good as I had imagined they would be, and a great day and night ended on a high. And with that I’ll keep the songs Cleveland centered and give you the Pink Holes, an ‘80s band that took the piss out of everything and everybody the way I love it.
Saturday was equally busy having hung out with old friend John in the morning and spending much of the day going through the racks of the excellent My Mind’s Eye Records in Lakewood and ending the day at Happy Dog again, the same venue as the previous night. There I ran into Shaun and Bob, people I have not seen in many years, and have played in bands like Cider, Midnight, Inmates or Annihilation Time. Brainwashed Youth played there Saturday night and is a Cleveland punk rock act continuing in the tradition of bands like the Pink Holes, and many others by celebrating dumb lyrics with simple riffs. Great stuff, and a great day!

Sunday was my heading home to Buffalo day, but before that there was some time to relax after a busy two days. In the afternoon I briefly hung out at the pool inside my friend SuLee’s building. At one point a distinguished gentleman is introduced to me as Tim, formerly of the well known band Guided By Voices, originally formed in ‘83 in Dayton, Ohio. I really know very little about the band, but the funny thing is that a lady that rides the bus with me to work every day was very pleased to hear about my meeting as her son is a huge fan of the band and travelled in the past many times to Cleveland to catch them. I always say, it’s a small world. I had a great time in Cleveland after not having visited the city in a long time. Always fun, cheers!
