Every day at least one song - Week # 25 (July 14, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Happy Bastille Day or fete de la federation to my French friends. And since we will have Claimed Choice from belle France playing Buffalo this coming Wednesday, it’s a perfect opportunity to blast some modern day French Oi Punk. And with that I nearly forgot it’s bloody Monday again, well we’ll get through that misery… Have a good one everyone!

Tuesday is a middle of nowhere day of the week. Monday’s just passed, but the feeling of a weekend coming up is a distant one as well, hence we often get the blues and feel lost. Music always helps, and John Mayall, who passed away a year ago (RIP) at the age of ninety wrote plenty of great and uplifting songs during his lengthy career. Here some great footage from the German TV Show Beat Club back in ‘71. With that, have a great day and feel the blues!

Middle of the week here we go with The Dole from Peterborough in the UK. I have had this single for many years from a time when it was possible to find rare and good records for little money. I just checked discogs and in the meantime a collection of the band’s output has been released on CD as well as Vinyl, albeit this single was their only ever official release back in the golden age of punk/new wave in the late ‘70s. Definitely a cracker of a song that should sweeten up your Wednesday me thinks. Enjoy, and Happy Wednesday!

Great gig last night with Claimed Choice from France and locals Sweet Talker. There were so many young kids at the show, it was really something else. And by the way I do mean that in a positive way as generally speaking an evening like yesterday’s would have been half empty had it not been for the summer break and kids being off. I hope many of them stick around for years to come as new fresh faces are always needed to keep things going. Sweet Talker were great as an opening act, they have Graham of Big Dog on bass, and play mean ass Punk’N’Roll with a heavy Motorhead vibe. Not much on YouTube yet by them, but you get these two new songs that were just recorded. Happy Thursday!

What exactly is the meaning of a “mirror of eternity”? Well, metaphorically speaking it depicts a state of mind that is self-reflective and has an honest look at oneself. Over the years I have learned to do that periodically and it certainly helps. Looking on the meaning of it sonically speaking Excruciation from Zurich, Switzerland come to mind, a band that doesn’t get mentioned very often when it comes to the history of Metal in Switzerland. They started out in ‘84 and were part of my musical upbringing for years thereafter when they played in Zurich and its surrounding areas very often. They brought kids from the hardcore punk and metal scenes together and their shows were always fun and energetic. They’re still around, so check them out. Here my favorite song by them, and with that Happy Friday!
