Every day at least one song - Week # 18 (May 26, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Today is Memorial Day here in the United States, a day to honor and to remember the fallen having served for the US military. While I’ll do respectfully just that, it should also serve as an even bigger reminder that war does not solve anything. Currently we have several ongoing wars in the world with people dying on a daily basis. While politicians promise a lot as per usual, unfortunately the same senselessness continues. With that I give you a fitting song from the Basque part of Spain by classic outfit RIP. Have a great day!

A happy Tuesday to you all from sunny Buffalo, NY. And let’s face it, but this early in the morning we all need some sugar, well not really this diabetes guy here, but in moderation it won’t kill me, at least not yet ;-) Anyhow, I give you S.U.G.A.R from Berlin, Germoney with their hard hitting punk’n’roll, courtesy of a tip from a good friend of mine in Switzerland. These guys are currently touring in Europe and have just released a Split 12” with the Blowers from Australia on Alien Snatch Records, a label that’s been around for a good while and has always stood for quality releases. So, get your greasy paws on one of those and have a good one!

Wednesday, May 28, 2025:

Happy fuckin’ angry Wednesday, folks! Time to blast a pissed off and fast track, and with that I give you Aus-Rotten from Pittsburgh, PA, a ‘90s band that was truly influential in the anarcho punk scene here in the United States. Surprisingly they have even their own Wikipedia entry and if the information therein is correct having sold twenty five thousand copies of the “Fuck Nazi Sympathy” EP is quite something. That’s just not happening these days any longer. Play loud, and stay angry!

With an upset stomach all day, and tons of work at my job I am glad we’ve reached the end of today. Wendy O’ Williams was one of a kind, and I must have heard the Plasmatics for the first time when I was about ten years old thanks to some cheapo compilation LP my parents bought in 1980. Amongst all kinds of disco garbage the Plasmatics featured on one of those records with “Butcher Baby”, and for said reason I kept that record to this day. I have no doubt that many female musicians have been inspired by Wendy over the decades and have adopted her “don’t take shit from anyone” approach changing the demographics in the music industry in every possible way. Yesterday Wendy would have turned seventy-six years old. May she be remembered for all the great music and the blown up cars.

Happy Friday everyone! It’s sunny out there, and neither hot nor cold, which means perfect weather for me. Time to blast a good tune, and Gyasi seems like the perfect choice. Another tip from my buddy back in Switzerland (cheers Alain!), and what a great song and video this is bringing you glam rock at its best in the modern day and age. If you want to learn more about the artist, do so here. Rock on!

Last day of this cool, grey and rainy May here in Buffalo, NY, and while we have nearly reached the summer season we still have the heat on in these parts of the world. Time to blast a classic harking back to times when punks weren’t offended by everything and everybody. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad that punk rock and society in general have moved on, but quite often we have a tendency of taking things way too seriously and with that I mean we take especially ourselves way too seriously. Not good, so if you don’t like it, tough shit me thinks. I saw the Pork Dukes during my London years at the now defunct 12 Bar Club on Denmark St. and they were as fun as you can imagine. Happy Saturday!

Sunday, June 1, 2025:

Welcome to the month of June, crazy how time flies. Hopefully the weather will be more seasonal in these parts of the world, it’s about time to turn the heat off me thinks. I love the Finnish language and I equally love bands from Suomi-Finland. With today’s song by Aino & Hajonneet you not only get a cracker of a punk influenced pop song, but you also get to hear the beauty of the language, not that I understand anything though. With that enjoy, and have a great Sunday!
