Every day at least one song - Week # 28 (August 4, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Easing into a new week with some calming surf melodies by Kincaid & the Memetics from New South Wales in Australia should hopefully make my day go smoother, and yours as well. It’s a genre I barely ever explored, but if done well such as in this instance, it is enjoyable and can definitely make you feel like you are in a different world. Happy Monday!

Today’s post is with certainty not GBH’s best known song, but it is one that I have always appreciated and loved when the album “No need to panic” was released. A friend of mine and I listened to said album up and down back then, hence lots of memories are attached to the song. Sadly the lyrics apply even more these days then they did back then as we live in a society where many feel content to be divided and don’t even try to understand other people’s views. Happy Tuesday!

Gorilla Angreb must have been big, and I mean big fans of their fellow countrymen Lost Kids as they do a perfect imitation, nothing wrong with that if done well. They were around from the late ‘90s to ‘07, but I have seen Facebook posts of them performing again here and there. If you find yourself in the beautiful country of Denmark make sure to check out their bands, always something good coming out of there. It’s freaking Wednesday and it’s going to be a busy day, hence time to get moving. Have a good one folks!

Way too many people obsess about money, that is very true. Unfortunately our whole economy is driven by it to the point where governments just abandon humans for more gains and endless wars around the world. Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders are the former Lazy Cowgirl singer’s band in existence for the last twenty years playing simply honest music that will kick your ass, and I think we can all appreciate that. Happy Thursday!

Yesterday afternoon was quiet at work, which doesn’t happen very often. While catching up with tasks I put on a Youtube channel with ‘60s garage rock songs and jotted down a few of the songs I particularly liked. This one by the Redwoods from Michigan is one of them. Not much else I have been able to find out about them except that this 1966 single was their only one on the very collectable Phalanx label out of Portage, MI. Happy Friday!

Every year around this time people with bad hair cuts, little hair or no hair at all gather in Blackpool on the West Coast of the UK to attend the Rebellion Festival. I still haven’t figured out as to what they are rebelling against, but I suppose it’s good exposure for some of the newer bands, or bands that don’t play there every year in some sort of incarnation with one original member left. Sloppy Seconds are on the bill today I believe, hence if you are a loser lost in Blackpool right now and reading this, please make sure you catch these Midwestern legends. And you’ll know that I don’t use the word “legends” lightly. Maybe I’ll have some ice cream later. Happy Saturday!

Last night Olga the dog and I sat outside for a good while listening to a Soul/Funk Youtube list while I was slurping on a mix drink and taking in the somewhat cooler breeze after another hot day. No DJ saved my ass last night, but the song posted today did stick out to me as Indeep’s one hit wonder is a great mix of post-disco and funk and let’s just agree; rather groovy. I listened to it again and hope this might spice up your Sunday. I hope everyone has a great day, and an even better week ahead, stay cool!
