Every day at least one song - Week # 16 (May 12, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

This past Saturday at a local Walmart I couldn’t help noticing a gentleman with long grey hair sporting an Exodus “Bonded by Blood” T-Shirt. When passing him in the aisle I told him that I loved that album and that it was probably my all time favorite Thrash Metal record. We had a nice and brief chat and after that I couldn’t help being reminded about those early Metal days, and how exciting they were while my wife was wondering who in the heck Exodus are. What is far less exciting though is the fact that it’s a Monday again. With that, make the most of it and have a headbangin’ day!

After a hot and sunny day yesterday I am actually happy to see clouds and somewhat cooler weather. I am not one for high temperatures unless the temperature rises through the speakers blasting uncompromising loud and wild rock’n’roll, such as in this case delivered by the guys from the Electric Shakes, a band from sunny Bournemouth in England. Happy Tuesday!

Kind of fitting, the song title I mean. Lightnin’ Hopkins is one of my favorite Blues artists and there are a number of records I have yet to review, albeit I did one so far. I am currently reading a book on the history of the Delta Blues and felt like I should post something by Charley Patton or the likes, as Mr. Hopkins was from Texas, and not the Mississippi Delta. Regardless next time I will, you get the groove me thinks. Happy Wednesday!

I just finished my cup of coffee for this morning so let’s stick with the theme here started yesterday with songs about the struggle of waking up, although I am generally speaking much more of a morning person as opposed to a night howl. Rovsvett hail from the small town of Tranas in Sweden and started out all the way back in ‘83 with today’s song off of their excellent 1985 released EP. To my surprise I just found out that they are still going strong, and just released a new LP. I suppose a lot of Kaffe helped over the decades. Happy Thursday!

Well, Friday here we go, and since I am going to work for just half a day my mood is even better than usually on this day of the week. Ex-Tip were the first punk rock band in my birth town of Bratislava in the former Czechoslovakia and started out as early as 1980. Their first LP didn’t come out until 1991 after communism has vanished and is an absolute cracker. Guitarist Sveto Korbel joined Extip after having left Zona A, and before joining Slobodna Europa with whom he performs to this day. Have a kangaroo day!

Let’s just say that the relationships between Canada and the United States are currently not at their best. The other day I read somebody’s post on Facebook wherein the person in the province of Ontario just across the border from here put forward that small businesses Stateside are rightfully struggling due to Canadians increasingly staying away completely from the US of A. In my opinion boycotts can of course work, but in this case it’s not just a boycott, it’s to a degree playing right into the hands of the bozo in the White House by being equally isolationist. What I really didn’t like in the aforementioned post is the fact that Americans should feel the pain and what “we” voted for. What an ignorant opinion, as certainly many of us did not want November’s outcome. Regardless, before I bore you to death here with some political crap, think rationally and remember that quite often the pain felt is by the ones who need the most support. And with that I give you Riot 99 from Toronto, a band that was quite a hype about twenty years ago. Happy Saturday!

Surprise, surprise, but the weather has turned quite cool again in Buffalo and I even had to turn the heat back on. Yep, quite pathetic for it being in the middle of May, but even though I can’t stand heat and am generally speaking happy living here for said reason, I sometimes long warmer and dryer climates, such as Brazil. The largest South American country has given us many a great punk rock act, and Colera are one of the biggest exports when it comes to said criteria. Unfortunately I recall missing them when they played in Europe in the late ‘80s, shame. Happy warm Sunday!
