Every day at least one song - Week # 14 (April 28, 2025)
When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

Well, the start and the feeling to the new week couldn’t be any better. The nice weather is picking up where it left off yesterday, and Liverpool FC are Premier League champions, hence life couldn’t be better. I celebrated the title yesterday here in Buffalo at the great Banshees Pub in sunny downtown Buffalo, NY, and a big cheers to Partho and other fellow ‘Pool’ supporters for making it a truly memorable day. In that sense it shouldn’t come as a surprise that today’s song revolves around football so enjoy one of Vanilla Muffins’ hit from yesteryear. With that, sugar Oi common’ and happy Monday!

Greetings from Stupid World Amerikkka, and congratulations to our neighbors just a few miles north of us in Canada for voting for the candidate to stand up to the “orange man” working hard on making America great again. Injecting some humor into a rather serious situation never fails, and with that the Dayglo Abortions from Victoria, BC always put a smile on my crinkling face. I saw these guys in Toronto in ‘91, and have great memories of that night. I believe a documentary about the band is in the making, stay tuned. Have a great one!

So, the first one hundred days of the “orange man” in the White House are behind us and this song is my way of thanking him for making the price of eggs go down and our lives so much better. David Peel (born David M. Rosario) was born in NYC to Puerto Rican parents and is widely known as an influential figure of New York’s counter culture movement dating back to the 1960’s. He went on to release several records, was the producer of GG Allin & Jabbers first LP, and collaborated with many different musicians. Further to that he influenced many musicians in the punk rock world as seen in this video performing “Up against the Wall” with Sea Monster. David passed away in 2017 but his music lives on. Happy Wednesday!

Happy International Workers’ Day everyone, not that here in the U.S. anyone really cares. There is certainly a great need to care much more for the rights of workers, but in general society has gotten so brainwashed that anything concerning the rights of the people helping the economy running is considered “commie”. Regardless, what better band to think of today than the Angelic Upstarts, one of my favorites. ‘Solidarity’ is most certainly from their weaker phase, yet it remains a hit and when I saw them in Hamburg many years ago I recall they played it twice. Rest in Peace Mensi, and I shall celebrate today by going to work. Have a great day!

Happy Friday folks, and to provide you with more energy without running a TV add for a certain battery company I give you the Urban Bandits from the Philippines, yes you heard right I am talking about the island in Southeast Asia. This is just perfect ‘80s hardcore punk, obviously influenced by American bands, and was originally released on cassette in 1985. Have a great day everyone!

I can’t even remember how many rainy Saturdays we’ve had so far this year, but there’s been a few and today is yet another one. I just watched live footage from Sydney, Australia on BBC World as the Aussies have just re-elected Albo as their PM. The man sounds refreshing compared to our sitting Fuehrer in the WH, and while watching the footage “My city of Sydney” came to mind. It’s just a great song I know from some Australian punk compilation, but little did I know that it was originally written by a certain Tommy Leonetti who was born in the Garden State of New Jersey. Apparently Mr. Lionetti, a pop singer-songwriter, did also some acting roles here statewide, and after having gotten a singing gig in Sydney in 1966 he decided to move to Australia with his wife and stepdaughter. XL Capris covered Lionetti’s song for their ‘79 single, which ended up being one of John Peel’s all time favorites. With that, let us take Olga the Dog, adopted from Sydney, to the Vet for a check up. Have a sunny day!

Yesterday I watched the latest episode of one of my favorite YouTube channels wherein Jan, the creator of VG-, discussed the importance of Donna Summer’s 1977 hit single ‘I feel love’. Disco Music is not something I have great knowledge of, but in my opinion the song is a true smasher, and probably well ahead of its time back then. I think pretty much every music genre offers some real nuggets to be discovered, hence it always pays off to have an open mind. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I have. With that, happy Sunday!
