Every day at least one song - Week # 10 (March 31, 2025)

When I started Barstool Revolution I created a Facebook site and generated a daily thread where I would post at least one song a day. With social media sites increasingly useless for self-promotion to generate traffic to sites like this one - unless you are willing to shell out money - I decided to continue the “tradition” right here to add content and to hopefully generate more traffic to the site. As suggested, every day you will get at least one song, old or new that is, and of any genre. Stay tuned and check in daily!!!

It’s just another manic Monday…well, I could have posted said Bangles MTV Hit, but instead I opted for something totally different, and let’s face it, something much better. Himei from Japan released this smasher of an EP on HG Fact Records in 2010. Just a fantastic release influenced by ‘80s bands like The Comes, Stalin and so forth, but unfortunately as with many records it’s very hard and expensive to track down. Should I be lucky to track down a copy one day you’ll hear about it. In the meantime everyone has a noisy Monday!

Tuesday, April 1, 2025:

Welcome to April folks. Yesterday I forgot to inform my thousands and thousands of readers that my life has totally changed over night. I was in Vegas over the weekend and even though I am not a gambler, when in Vegas I of course partook in those activities. Lucky me I won a big stash of money and am now able to stay home without having to work. That means that you’ll be getting more content here which can only be beneficial for you and I me thinks. Let’s celebrate this new chapter in my life with Non Compos Mentis from Texas with a punk nugget from 1980. Happy Tuesday!

There is something to be said about electronic music, as some people would argue it can’t match the aggressiveness of guitar driven music. In certain cases it certainly will, and all the way back in 1978 The Normal, a one-man project of a certain Daniel Miller who would go on to start Mute Records, just proved that. Apparently Mr. Miller was tired of punk bands and having to learn three chords. I think what he came up with is simply mind-blowing and gets your blood pumping. Have a good one!

I may repeat myself here, but I do like discovering new bands, mostly for the fact knowing that the sound I like so much still since god knows when still exists and is being translated into recordings by bands around the world. In this case it is Wax Minds from Germany with their fuzzed out garage punk and a good hint of power pop and 77 punk thrown into the mix. Sure, nothing new, but executed well, and that’s all I am looking for. On a side note, Claude, the vocalist for the band, is also co-host of the world famous German podcast ‘Und Dann Kam Punk’. Hope the rain stops soon here, have a good day everyone!

Friday, April 4, 2025:

Hello Friday, it’s nice that you finally showed up as this week’s been dragging on. With the weekend around the corner I thought about one of my favorite The Boys songs and remembered the video as well. It’s funny because said band has hardcore fans who would travel just about anywhere in the world when the band reunited. I saw them twice during my years in London and thought they were good, but nothing that crazy. They obviously knew how to write catchy and great songs, but there wasn’t a ton of them, at least not in my opinion. Anyhow, this one’s great and with that wishing you a happy Friday!

In the comment fields on YouTube someone wrote “In a just world this would be a hit” below this Chesterfield Kings song from their 2003 album “The Mindbending Sounds of…”. And it sure as hell is a hit, and yes in a just world it would be bigger, but as we all know this world isn’t just, not just when it comes to music. The Chesterfield Kings hail from Rochester, NY, just about an hour away from here, and have been going strong since the early ‘80s with having released a new album in 2024. Happy Saturday!

Welcome to another end of the week folks, and I may sound like a broken record, but the weeks do seem to fly by even faster the older we get. Anyhow, let’s take a trip back to the early ‘80s with an obscure find thanks to the great German Youtube channel VG-. Camp Sophisto featured a certain Peter Hein, the Duesseldorf born pioneering punk musician who is better known from Fehlfarben, Mittagspause et al. With that wishing everybody a great end to the week, stay safe!
